“NUS has really helped us this year”

Hannah Wiseman – the volunteering intern at the University of Bournemouth Students’ Union – first heard the word ‘divestment’ in a webinar we ran this year ahead of the Paris climate talks.

Since then, she’s helped student leaders mount a full campaign on divestment and ethical reinvestment. Because of this, the university has pulled all its money out of fossil fuel companies like Rio-Tinto, and are looking for ways to invest in renewables.

“NUS has really helped us this year, Hannah told us, “from webinars, to the workshop at the Sustainability Summit in Bristol last November, and more recently with direct support and encouragement”.
