Over 1,800 tonnes of carbon saved in halls of residence

Our campaign Student Switch Off encourages over 139,000 students to take simple energy saving actions in halls. Turning lights off when you leave a room. Only boiling as much water as you need. Things like that.

In 2016/17, this we managed an average of 6.6% electricity reduction in participating halls across the UK. That’s equivalent to the energy you need to make 105 million cups of tea.

And we didn’t just do it in the UK. We did it in Greece, Cyprus, Lithuania and Sweden too.
