We partnered with UClan Students’ Union to train course reps, giving them the skills they need to assess their courses for sustainability and global citizenship content.
“The support NUS provided was invaluable”, education officer Tas told us. “The workshop helped encourage reps to contemplate ESD on a wider level and allowed them to localise the issue to their course”.
Course reps left the sessions with a far greater understanding of sustainability and how it applies to all disciplines. And it helped them to think critically and reflectively about their curriculum, which enhanced the role of learner voice across the institution.
With 60 per cent of students wanting to learn more about sustainability, empowering course reps with these skills is a crucial part of shaping a quality education which allows graduates to face the 21st century with confidence.
